Co-immunity: healing

We are waiting for a miracle, those who do not believe or ignore science, now hope that scientists will find the vaccine, while vaccines for the old flu infections are beginning to be available at health centers in Brazil.
The lesson from the medical point of view is that this disease that has taken on aspects of the pandemic teaches us is already definitive, that people’s health is more important than the disease, that we can all help each other if each does our part well, and that no one will do our part for us, the government and health authorities can raise awareness, but depend on individual, cultural attitudes.
The philosopher Peter Sloterdijk worked in a broader sense on the idea of immonology and co-immunity, the idea that we cannot get rid of all the viruses and microorganisms that have always been part of life, and that now are attacked and worked on by society as a whole may have their effects reduced, although they seem more and more aggressive, influenza a few years ago looks like a common flu close to the corona virus and its range and aggressiveness.
Heir to phenomenology, but mixed with Nietzsche, and co-heir of Heidegger with Byung Chul Han, he created a surprising new anthropology beyond the human, by defining homo sapiens as the result of an unfinished and infinite autopoiesis (auto is self and poiesis, creation), so we go on each clash with nature, self “creating” and reviewing.
The revision of this moment is interesting and will be unfinished because the results for the economy and the future social structure itself will be undefined and dependent on decisions, but the joint fight of peoples and nations in the pandemic creates a new “joint action”, which Sloterdijk calls co-immunity, that is, creating joint defenses and an immunology beyond the human.
In relation to Heidegger, it goes beyond being-there to being-with, not only because it creates an anthropological view of the human relationship, but that shows the efficiency of joint action where each does its part, and the immunity of the whole, depends on the rearrangement network of each individual part.
In response to a question asked in 2018, he (from the frontiers of thought program) explains his immunology as follows: “Let’s not forget: the word “immunology ”is a metaphor borrowed by lawyers from biologists. I take it a step further, extending the concept of immunis (which in Latin means “free from duties”) to the religious dimension.
Comparing his system with Luhmann’s, he stated: “While for Niklas Luhmann the legal system would be the immune system of the social system, ballpoint states that religion is society’s original immune system”, and this would be anthropology beyond the human, entering a dimension of religious transcendence.

In times of #StayAtHome, a good reading is indicated, or watching a good movie, but no big dramas, sensationalism or violence, the readings that I also recommend that are to calm us down, pacify us and make coexistence possible, in a word Tenderize or Eternalizing.
One of the books I recommend to enjoy the warmth of home, “The pleasure of staying at home” (only in Portuguese and unfortunately sold out, best seller unintentionally), where Brazilian author Leticia Ferreira Braga, without knowing the current events, wrote in 2007, how to improve self-esteem and self-knowledge, how to organize more conscious consumption and explore natural resources, the effort to make the environment that lives more pleasant and also practical, without luxury and simple.
For those who like to think more deeply, we have already indicated and commented here several times, Byung Chul Han’s “The society of tiredness”, the Korean-German knew that humanity was striding towards an exaggerated activism and technologism (he also exaggerates how much the use of technology that can be a good resource in the current situation), but his thinking about the difficulty of contemplating modern man is a good reflection, it is necessary to be touched.
Small routine habits in the domestic environment help, make cleaning better, even recommended for the coronavirus, but be careful with the toc, avoid boring and controversial subjects, laugh at your own difficulties, including personal and family limitations, in short.
If I could sum up a necessary attitude for the family environment to be but cozy, bearable is to do what is not pleasant to become, what is hard to bear, what is difficult to make possible, to finally soften and review rude habits and abrupt.

A dark night of humanity

One night falls on mankind, but it must be noted that this night the virus that has hit the whole planet has been happening is a catalyst and despite being lethal and bringing a lot of care can wake us up from a night that was happening: night of culture, night of God, night of science reduced to questionable specialties and methods and mainly night of man.
The rampant and often meaningless life, the search for efficiency and productivity, the idea that economic growth brings happiness and especially the exclusion of the Other, now seem to be inverted with the need to stay at home: #StayAtHome.
Tonight provoked a collective blindness, culture is anything goes, scribbles and blots became art, purely genital expressions without any affectivity of sex, and the religious culture that helped people find peace of mind became pure superstition, appeal wealth and money, or mere poverty on the other hand without anything to make you understand the deep sense of detachment and living in the essence of life.
The religious night or night of God is an attachment of men to their closed circles now, if they are prudent, also prevented from meeting, gross manipulation, fundamentalist reading of the Bible, which are the worst contemporary blindness, also reduces man to being-for-death and not being-for-life.
Contemplate the mystery of the universe beyond what we already know, we know little of the mass and dark energy that makes up 94% of the universe, and that it may still have one beyond its “bubble”, it can open the eyes of those who think they know everything because they learned science, or because they read the Bible with their eyes of cultural blindness and their closed and petty circle of “elect”.

Beyond the universe

We still live the belief of absolute space and time, the great discoveries of the physics of our time have already proved the existence of the space-time dimension and a fourth dimension where many physical phenomena are explained, standard physics elaborated this, but now we can go beyond.
There was a discrepancy between the measures of expansion of the universe made based on the cosmic microwave background, the noise that remained from the first Big Bang and the expansion of red stars as the recent measurement made by in 2001 was 72 kilometers per second per megaparsec (km / sec / Mpc), with a parsec equivalent to 3.26 light years away.
The red stars are a stage of evolution of the suns when an event called helium glash occurs, in which the temperature rises about 100 million degrees and its structure is rearranged, which ends up decreasing its luminosity, but let us be calm take millions of years to happen. Initial measurements at Planck’s time were 67.4 km / sec / Mpc and recently a NASA team led by Wendy Freedman set it to 70 km / sec / Mpc which apparently averaged and reconciled the two measurements, but in practice they seemed two different phenomena.
The hypothesis of Lucas Lombriser, a physicist at UNIGE in Geneva, published in the next issue of Physics Letters B, shows the universe not only expanding but a bubble within another universe of lesser density, and certainly revolutionary Physics and will change our worldview.

The frightening and at the same time fascinating idea that we are in a bubble within a larger space only with the “matter” density (as we know it, which is called baryonic), may point to enigme new ones like black lowest holes and dark matter.

There is no blindness only in the flat earth, in the Copernican universe and in the worldview of a planet still rearranging itself with its internal social forces, the expanding universe is much larger and may be within a “cosmic broth” that until then was unthinkable, Lombriser he thought.

The virus and its lessons

Suddenly the society that couldn’t stop, the “tiredness society” of the mind-boggling rhythm, of daily shows, has to resume a vision that you don’t know anymore, stop or at least slow down, stay at home, live with family members that are almost weird.
The fact is that the universe, nature and in it human nature has its laws, and these can be beyond a Big Bang, we can be inside a bubble and whose laws come from “outside” it.
I saw a hashtag go off and was surprised first, but then I gradually understood, mainly young people used #stayfuckatHome in response to “StayAtHome, of course it is not easy for those who never had this cultivated habit, now having to face it.
I was unable to measure both hashtags with the tools, but the universe conspires and makes us stop and stay at home, because events are canceled, there is nothing to do on the street, even the shops give their stop signs, and of course who continue to think on the economic side.
Well we must save the economy, even if it means a rapid explosion of a virus, in short the universe has taught its lesson, it is not the economy that lives for man, but the man who lives for there to be economy, and if it has its own laws, that they do not contradict nature and man, it seems that we have a checkmate.
The lessons for the online universe are twofold, on the one hand, face-to-face resumes a course that should never have left, the face-to-face relational world and fraternal circles and on the other the need for relationships that are public or private to have adequate online tools.
Conflict exists at both ends, nor do we make satisfactory face-to-face relationships, are elusive, authoritarian or worse, indifferent, and we don’t even know how to behave in the online world (the virtual exists before the internet and the digital universe), and always who criticize use it badly and do not understand the “logic” of this universe that asks for relations different from those in person.
Now we have to schedule online meetings, use chats and videos and finally we will go beyond religious and ideological preaching to non-face-to-face relationships that are in fact “relationship”, because virtual comes from the Latin “virtus” which is similar to “potential” either saying we must “cultivate” the virtual to become a real relationship (virtue comes from virtus), the face-to-face does not guarantee the “relationship”.
The great lesson, there will be many others, is that we must share and share responsibilities to overcome the pandemic crisis, which is already social and economic, and depends on the attitude of each one.

 

The Big Bang can be something else

And the Theory of Standard Physics, whose discovery of the Higgs particle recently in the Hadron collider made physicists vibrate, now everything seems to have another meaning.
There were two strong evidences about the Big Bang and the expansion of the universe since the first ball from which everything came out, and now it would be in a bubble of 250 million light years.

And now, this “our universe” where the density of matter is half of the rest of the universe, the hypothesis is Lucas Lombriser, theoretical physicist at the University of Geneva (UNIGE) and answers at what speed the universe expands, and reconciles the two previous averages of Universe Expansion.
The approach published in the journal “Physics Letter B”, resolves the divergence between two independent calculation methods that reached different values by around 10%, a statistical deviation that is irreconcilable, and does not need any new physical model.
According to the Big Bang theory occurred 13.8 billion years ago, the proposal was first made by the Belgian physicist and elder Georges Lemaître (1894-1966) and demonstrated for the first time by the American astronomer Edwin Hubble (1889-1953), observing that distant galaxies were moving away and putting them back together, one could calculate the time of the first explosion.
The expansion constant called H0 was meditated at a value of 67.4 according to data provided by the Planck space mission, which hypothesizes that the universe is homogeneous and isotropic, but now you can think of it with a bubble with matter density half of the entire universe, that is, at 13.8 billion light it exploded within a “other” less dense universe.
Lombriser said: “If we were in a kind of gigantic” bubble “, where the density of matter was significantly less than the density known to the entire universe, this would have consequences on the distances of the supernovae and, ultimately, on determining the H0”.
Thus, the 250 million-year constant for the bubble reconciles the values of the constant H0 for the Big Bang with the constant with the calculation of the spacing of the supernovae that has influence from the entire universe including the part of the bubble with half density, reconciling the two measures.

 

The changes of the 20th century

Ascent and asceticism

Asceticism then means a virtuous process by which through steps and exercises one can acquire a spirituality by placing the soul in the face of obstacles and situations where it can overcome itself and follow a path of ascension.

Some cases in which there are psychological barriers, self-help can be a panacea or even be contrary to the creation of a true asceticism, creating superstitions and new problems and new vices entering a vicious cycle that will need some professional help.

Moments of crisis and depression favor these cycles, but true asceticism is another way in which we feel that we are taking ever higher steps and we are able to overcome the natural and or imposed obstacles caused by life, serious illnesses, economic situations, etc.

The appeal for a magical solution to these problems does not mean spirituality or religiosity, but an opportunism with the person who suffers some short-term life problem, can in many cases even constitute crimes of extortion and personal or moral harassment.

Asceticism is a necessary human effort, the daily life demands a way of living well and that puts the soul in a necessary comfort for the solution of daily problems, so it is not just about religiosity or mere virtuosity, life asks us for ways to live well.

In any form of thought or culture, emptying yourself to elevate yourself is necessary for the smooth progress of perfect asceticism, the Greek epoché was nothing but this initial process to acquire new thoughts and allow the elevation of consciousness, intelligence and spirituality.

In Christianity, one of the biblical passages, which speaks in particular of the asceticism of Jesus, is the one he takes with him Peter, James, John and takes them to “a place apart”, says the evangelist Matthew Mt 17,1-4 : “And he was transfigured before them: his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. In this, Moses and Elijah appeared, talking to Jesus.

Then Peter took the floor and said, “Lord, it is good for us to stay here. If you want, I will make three tents here: one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah,” wanting to stay on this ascent.

The fact is that afterwards they “descend” from Mount Tabor (photo above), that is, they do not always remain in a high spirit, but there is another important thing in this asceticism that is the fact of the presence of Moses and Elias, of course both had already died for a long time, however, the presence of “men” with Jesus.

 

 

Asceticism, spirituality and epoché

The asceticism that comes from the Greek acekesis which means “spiritual exercise”, and often it means renouncing pleasure and even some of the primary needs, for example, not eating and fasting, can be linked to spirituality or simply to some culture.

Epoché means the suspension of judgment, as already explained in phenomenology, it is a “putting in brackets”, which means abandoning even if I convince some concept or theory, in order to penetrate a phenomenon, and be aware of some “thing” that we investigate .

It could be a point of convergence between spirituality and knowledge, of course in an environment where this was conducive, and that each side there was prepared for a true “suspension of judgments”, which is rare, even more so in times of confused convictions. Supposing that it is possible, and the exercise that Husserl proposes, the Greeks did it to get to know, episteme and get out of the doxa, what are the necessary conditions for this realization, so to think of an exercise for this means to create an asceticism for “epoché”.

The phenomenological epoché for spiritual elevation can thus be extended, it is not a change from its true path through which it must find the Being creating a transcendental (or reflexive phenomenology, as Gethmann stated) and this Heidegger path has trodden deeper.

Turning to what is experienced, to the original, to the source, to the birth of what is as it is (turning to the thing as proposed by Husserl), constituting an elevation by exercise that has the consequence of personal knowledge, but is far of just being self-help.

Taking the human being and taking it into consideration is not only in the sense of accumulating new information, but becoming more Being, the new man as proposed by Husserl, freeing himself from the automated and immediate movement of daily life, from impulsive and little reflective.

There are many false acceses, which, because they are mere exercises, do not bring with them a spirituality or a form of self-knowledge in fact

 

Between phenomenological reduction and eidetic variation

Asking about Husserl consciousness will propose a radical method to “search” the phenomenon, recovering and modifying a Greek concept that is the phenomenological reduction (epoché).

Epoché is suspension means in ancient Greek, that we do not erase from our conscience the judgment we have about things, but the Husserlian perspective is “in brackets” which is more realistic, because we cannot erase, at least completely, the memory, however forget what we think about what we learn about the experiential world.

Thus Husserl manages not to do a high attitude, like the Cartesian cogito that does not erase the ego, but a “natural attitude” to review how we relate to the things of the world. So learning something means capturing them as they are, so phenomenology seeks to focus the phenomenon in the sense of how it appears to us, without using what we already knew before and its applications of how it has already been seen, with the aim of reaching its!

Originality !, its “purity” of phenomenon, It means leaving aside all prejudices, theories, definitions and trying to acquire a new concept about concepts, without prejudices about the “thing”.

Epoché does not intend to doubt the existence of the world, nor, even less, to suppress it. The world around presents itself only in consciousness.

For Husserl, the objects of the world are already placed for us in different perspectives and we almost immediately adopt a meaning for it, in general what we do not know we attribute an essence and it should remain unchanged because we gave this object its original meaning.

Husserl’s second fundamental concept is eidetic variation, precisely what differentiates his view of eidos from contemporary idealistic culture, where he calls noema what is of the object itself, what is the thing, which the ancients call quality, while it calls of Greek noesis νόησις, it means the immediate apprehension that may not have the necessary dianóia, that is to say, to think about the thing that links it to the noema.

So the fixation on objects and the misunderstanding of their meaning on the other hand, is part of the contemporary world, this desynchrony between noema and noese.
