The infinite, Bauman and Levinas
Each reading whatever reading, but often read the author did not say what his interpreter wants to put in his mouth, in the case of reading Bauman of Levinas.
Save translation error, Levinas wrote “The ontology which brings the Other to the Same, promotes freedom which is the identification of the Same, who is not alienating the Other” (Levinas, 1980, p. 30), ie, there is a kind of ontology that promotes freedom to identify the SAME, which is the one who is not disposed of, this listen carefully and respect the Other, but not this ontology that Levinas argues.
This ontology reduces the Other to the Same, but calls into question the exercise of the Same, that is, the other should be able to put into question the Same.
Levinas, which is a special player Heidegger (read his other book The Existence of Husserl to Heidegger), reaches a critical Heidegger, these terms ontology “which makes the relationship with the Other in relation to being in general and, in this case, it is an obedience to the anonymous and results in imperialism “(LÉVINAS.1980, p. 34).
For Levinas, it was the Cartesian meditation that separated the self and the other, letting the EGO be confused with the Other as consciousness is unable to contain the Infinite he judge thinking.
But for Levinas The Infinite, to exceed all limits of cogito, shown as an externality which never integrates with Even, it was unthinkable for Descartes and confusing to Bauman that judges be beyond ontology and the inclusion of the Other, and that reason they are ready to judge you and not to release it in its liquid modernity.
Infinity refers to the universe, but not as a whole, the universe is a body and the body can have a sense of being not just one, this is for tomorrow.
